In September 2022, our first guests were arriving in 26 days and we were nowhere close to ready. We briefly considered disappearing 🌴✈️ 🤢 Instead, we called in our mothers, fathers, brothers, friends and lovers!
In those 26 days, we painted, sanded the original hardwood floors down to bare wood, installed new pine flooring in the front hallway, and unboxed what felt like a hundred boxes of furniture.
Most of the pieces in the parlour came from (a Canadian company, which mattered to us). But some of our favourite things in that room? Found at an estate sale just down the street - also on King Street, the same road The August House calls home. Because a 150-year-old house deserves furniture with a story.
