Good day everyone who has attended a live music event, organized a private party, hosted dinner parties, family reunion, enjoyed an overnight stay or would love to in the future!

I have had an interesting week with trying to decipher how to run our amazing get togethers in the future..

I have been told that there is to be 0 alcohol in the house without obtaining a liquor licence (which I have been denied). And would need 100's of thousands in renos

Option 2.. I can however get the 1 day charitable licence ( which is a whole bunch of organizing work and hassle to have to turn and donate any profit.)

Option 3.. Alcohol free shows☹ (not to be confused with FREE Acohol)

This applys to all private parties, baby showers, birthday rentals, random bbq's, all tourists wanting a glass of wine in the courtyard!

The last part might bother me the most.. I built crossing paths for guests to our town/province to have unique homey stay.. Forcing people to stay in their rooms and not socialize with other travellers is against everything I believe in and was given no solution for this! They want to treat me as a Hotel that you come in, go to your room, go to sleep, and you can head to Nova Scotia in the morning. I would guess there is not another airbnb or bnb anywhere that would follow this!
This is an example I gave... march 23,24th I have an entire curling team renting the entire house.. means no one else is in or out! Are they not permitted to have a beer in the common space and watch the hockey game after a day a curling?
NOPE, THEY ARE TO STAY IN THEIR ROOM.. so I said what if this was a lake side airbnb with a firepit over looking the lake.. what is their rule?
STUMPED them.. given answer is are technically not to be drinking if there is no licence in place for that business to allow alcohol!!!!
Good luck monitoring that!!
I get the concerns with the parties and will change how I do things..no problem, it does make sense to me!

So I am Stumped... again.. open to suggestions!
Sell to the new mega building next door and forget about it?
Spend the 200k and do a reno after not being given any extra space by the town.. ? No
