Our December Festive Season for 2026 is almost completely sold out, and we’re actively accepting reservations for December 2027 and 2028.

If a December stay in the North is on your list, we recommend starting the conversation at least a year in advance. Booking early helps ensure that your preferred dates and accommodation type are still available, while also giving you more flexibility with flights and travel planning.

Sharing the landscape with wildlife is part of what makes Blachford Lodge so special. 🐻🌲

Black bears may be present in the region during the warmer months, and a little awareness goes a long way toward keeping both guests and wildlife safe.

Winter in Yellowknife isn’t something to simply endure. It shapes how people travel, gather, explore, and experience the land. ❄️

When the lakes freeze, the North transforms. Seasonal ice roads stretch across frozen water, snowmobiles become part of everyday travel, and activities like ice fishing, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and dogsledding connect visitors with ways of life that have long been part of northern winters.

The Dettah Ice Road, pictured here, is one of the most recognizable signs that winter has truly arrived, creating a seasonal route across the frozen landscape between Yellowknife and Dettah.
