Guests were treated to an incredible sight yesterday morning as a muskox sauntered right near the lodge.

Some enjoyed the view right from the lodge deck, while others got a closer look on the tundra. It takes a trained eye to spot wild animals, especially from a distance and when they blend so seamlessly into the barrenlands landscape. Thanks to Chad’s uncanny ability to pick out animals moving across the terrain from miles away, everyone was treated to seeing this magnificent creature from a safe and respectful distance.

Didn’t July just whiz by and we’ve had a blast. Fishing started off slower than what were accustomed to but we were not disappointed - from anchoring at the river do some fly casting, trolling both floating and sinking lines and using traditional trolling methods, Point Lake continues to produce some real monster lake trout and the action is picking up, over the last 1.5 days 8 of our guests have landed 28 trophies. Hello August, more good times are here.

We call it a "Northern Safari" an unplugged, retreat designed for those who want to capture the raw heart of the Northwest Territories.

Whether you are a seasoned pro, just picking up a camera, or love nature our small-group workshop (limited to just 8 guests!) ensures you get the guidance and the "secret" vantage points that only a family-run lodge can provide.

The lodge is still buttoned up for the winter but we’re looking forward to these spectacular sunrises. There’s nothing like the first light when you’re standing on the lakeshore on the edge of the barrens. The days are getting shorter, the morning air is crisp, and the tundra is blanketed in vibrant autumn colour watching the golden hour hit the landscape – it’s a shared moment during our Arctic Photography Workshop.

After a week on the lake, screaming line peeling off your reel, trophies caught and released and enjoying those sumptuous shore lunches, the vibe around the lodge is heightened for our farewell supper.

The highlight. Every angler gets their moment in the spotlight as guides present the Arctic Angler certificate acknowledging their trophy catch of the week. Glasses are raised and stories are told.
These are the evenings where "guests" officially become lifelong friends. It’s not just about the fish you caught; it’s about the community you found 200 air miles north of Yellowknife.
