Guide for Visitors in Kahuzi-Biega region, North of the Bukavu town, DRCongo.

Visitors always wonder what to do during their journey in Eastern DRCongo, specifically in the Bukavu region.

The region is endowed with rich bioversity and beautiful landscapes that make it more attractive and an international destination.

Kahuzi Biega National Park (PNKB) was ranked third famous attractive natural site in Africa.
This natural world heritage site and the Lake Kivu with its islands constitute the two most important attractions in the region around Bukavu

Kahuzi Biega National Park organizes four main activities which are:
i) Visiting the gorillas,
ii) Climbing Mount Kahuzi (3308 m above sea level),
iii) Hiking in the forest,
including a visit to Tshibati Falls and
iv) Camping.

For visitors who wish to spend the night around gorillas, Simi-Trek Recreotouristic
Center makes accomodation available in its lodge located 2 km to Tshivanga, the main entrance and headquarter of Kahuzi Biega National Park.

Simi-Trek contribuent à la préservation de notre planète. L'exemple est la régénération naturelle d'une forêt de montagne autour du Parc national de Kahuzi-Biega après 21 ans de mise sous cloche d'un espace. Simi-Trek y a lutté de façon soutenue contre les feux de brousse, le broutage par les animaux domestiques et la coupe. Simi-Trek a procédé également par enrichissement sylvicole par des espèces d'essences autochtones.
La forêt régénérée est actuellement utilisée pour l'éducation environnementale en vue de préserver les forêts tropicales, tout en utilisant ces dernières de manière non consommatrice.

Simi-Trek contribute to the preservation of our planet. The example is the natural regeneration of a mountain forest around the Kahuzi-Biega National Park after 21 years of putting a space under a bell jar. Simi-Trek fought there in a sustained way against bush fires, grazing by domestic animals and cutting. Simi-Trek also proceeded by silvicultural enrichment with indigenous tree species.
The regenerated forest is currently used for environmental education in order to preserve tropical forests, while using them in a non-consumptive way.
