What is SICHLETE ? 🐄🧀🚜

Every September, Bern brings a little piece of the countryside into the heart of the city.

The Sichlete is a traditional Swiss harvest festival celebrating agriculture, rural life and Bernese customs. The tradition is rooted in the old harvest celebrations of Swiss farming communities, with the name Sichlete referring to the sickle once used to harvest grain.

Today, the celebration takes place on Bern’s Bundesplatz, where farmers bring their animals, local products and traditions to the city. The highlight is the Alpabzug — beautifully decorated cows making their way through Bern, accompanied by the sound of bells and traditional music.
