There is always a little sadness to leave our home in Switzerland. In the Summer and Fall we fly in and out of Milan and stay the night at the airport Sheraton before our return flight the next day. Our tradition for the last ten years has been to have a farewell dinner at the restaurant in the hotel that always surprises us with amazing vegetable dishes. Tonight we have a Late Summer Salad - mint, basil, cumin leaves and mushrooms with essence of lemon zest, curled zucchini, carrots and cucumber briefly blanched in vinaigrette. Fresh candied beet rounds. Figs and strawberries for a hint of sweetness. And a tomato tartare on the base - made with four different types of tomatoes . In short, the explosion of flavors in the mouth make us forget our sadness about returning and our conversation turns to the exciting creations we will craft in our kitchen and serve in our dining room when we return home.

We had fun redoing the Alpine Bedroom. Now so welcoming after a day of skiing, hiking, racletting or shopping :-)
