🔥 SLAM200: A VERSATILE “ALL-IN-ONE” SOLUTION FOR 3D SCANNING

Hello everyone 👋

We’ve just released a video review of the handheld SLAM 200 laser scanner — and we’re excited to share it with you! 😎

This next-generation system redefines the speed and efficiency of fieldwork. GNSS signal loss, elevation changes, or dense vegetation are no longer barriers to capturing high-quality survey data.

⚙️ What makes SLAM200 an indispensable tool:

✅ High performance:
The LiDAR module delivers up to 640,000 points per second with accuracy of up to 1 cm, producing dense, highly detailed point clouds even in challenging environments.

✅ GNSS-independent operation:
SLAM technology simultaneously builds trajectory and maps in real time, even with limited or no satellite signal. This enables reliable operation indoors, in tunnels, mines, and dense forests.

✅ True 4-in-1 versatility:
A genuine all-rounder. The scanner can be deployed on a vehicle, backpack, UAV, body harness (hands-free), or used handheld — adapting seamlessly to different survey scenarios.

With a scanning range of up to 300 metres, SLAM 200 becomes a powerful and flexible laser scanning solution! 🥇

👌 Results — here and now
SLAM technology allows you to generate point clouds in real time. Using the included SLAM GoPost application, you can monitor point cloud generation live during acquisition, and quickly prepare data for export to CAD and GIS platforms for further analysis.

🌊 TOPODRONE CONDUCTS BATHYMETRIC TRAINING FOR THE UNIVERSITY OF CYPRUS

Hello everyone from sunny Cyprus! ☀️👋

Recently, the TOPODRONE team delivered an on-site training programme for specialists from the University of Cyprus. Earlier, the university had acquired the TOPODRONE AQUAMAPPER NEXTGEN bathymetric system together with a DJI Matrice 350 RTK UAV for regular monitoring of a hydraulic structure.

Several years ago, a dam near the city of Paphos failed, leaving the reservoir out of operation for an extended period. Following the restoration of the structure and the refilling of the reservoir, specialists now plan to carry out regular monthly monitoring of the reservoir bed. To support this work, dedicated training was required.

The practical sessions were conducted directly on site. A demonstration survey was performed along four survey lines spaced 25 m apart, each approximately 200 m in length. During the training, participants practised the complete operational workflow:

✅ equipment preparation and mission planning
✅ performing UAV-based bathymetric surveys
✅ field data quality control
✅ processing survey results

Initial data processing was carried out in TOPODRONE Post Processing, followed by further processing in LIDAR360.

🔥 ARE SLAM SCANNERS SUITABLE FOR TOPOGRAPHIC SURVEYS?

Hello everyone! 👋

Earlier, we ran a hands-on technical webinar where, using a real project site, we took an in-depth look at the application of SLAM-based laser scanners for topographic surveying. We covered the entire workflow — from field data acquisition through to the production of a finished 1:200 scale topographic plan.

If you couldn’t join the webinar live — no problem. The recording is available. 👌

🤓 Key topics covered in the webinar:

✅ Operating principles of SLAM technology and its key differences compared to conventional surveying methods;
✅ Real-world capabilities and limitations of SLAM 100, SLAM 200 and SLAM 200E scanners;
✅ Use cases where SLAM is the optimal solution, and where it effectively complements RTK GNSS and total station surveying;
✅ Proper planning of scanning routes: trajectory loop closure and GCP placement;
✅ Point cloud colourisation and the use of georeferenced Insta360 panoramic imagery;
✅ Office data processing, vectorisation and delivery of the final DXF topographic drawing.

💡 Practical advantages of SLAM technology:

➖ Performs reliably in environments with poor or completely unavailable GNSS signal;
➖ Enables a single operator to rapidly survey complex areas with a high density of features;
➖ When correctly georeferenced and with closed-loop trajectories, achieves accuracy in the order of 15–20 mm;
➖ Well suited for topographic, cadastral, mining (surveying) and landscape surveys;
➖ Does not replace classical surveying methods, but seamlessly complements them, significantly increasing productivity and delivery speed.
