into the typology of , grounded in . It reimagines a care home as a cluster of four houses around a central courtyard, adopting a vernacular hamlet typology to form a small village. This layout creates a low-stimulus, dignified living environment for 33 residents with dementia and cognitive disabilities, leveraging the tranquil, remote setting.
The architecture employs a simple and design strategy to achieve goals. Rough-sawn timber facades, generous eaves, and large windows echo the rural scale and enable seamless into the landscape. As a result, the complex feels more like a village than an institution, demonstrating how can shed institutional character through context-sensitive, human-centered design.
