At and , electric vehicle chargers and in-house water bottling systems are helping to cut millions of plastic bottles and save about a million litres of water each year. At Shangri-La Baotou, smart energy upgrades now conserve enough electricity to power 76 families annually — and save thousands
of tonnes of water.

At Shangri-La, we're committed to empowering people to shine. Across the globe, our hotels and resorts are championing women and girls in leadership, business, STEM and beyond. See some of the remarkable initiatives we recently spearheaded:

✨ - In partnership with a local women's foundation, we organised health
consultation,floral art, portrait sketching to healthy light food and ceramic
bracelet DIY at our charity market with all proceeds donated towards supporting women across China in starting their business and finding employment.
✨ - Celebrating women's strength and resilience, we honoured the“Woman of the Year” by sharing her inspiring story and curating a special purple menu and purple souvenirs.
✨ - In partnership with Aster Clinic& Hospital, we proudly honoured the incredible women in
healthcare - doctors, nurses, and administrative staff- who make a difference every day. The celebration featured fun games, social activities, and a special Ramadan Iftar Dinner.

In 2024, our commitment to championing responsible
hospitality shone through as three of our Singapore hotels earned Global Sustainable Tourism Council certifications, while proudly received the VERIFIED Responsible Hospitality badge from . In the same spirit, we championed the planet, providing delectable and sustainably sourced offerings, such as "From Sea to Plate" experience at and on-site produced honey in Malaysia, Thailand and China. From supporting events like International Mother Earth Day to being recognised as the Top Healthiest Workplace at the Mercer China Healthiest Workplace Awards, we proudly empowered our communities to shine.

Did you know that a staggering five trillion plastic bags are produced and often quickly discarded each year, causing immense harm to our environment?

At Shangri-La, we're committed to making a difference by reducing our use of single-use plastics. In 2023, we achieved a remarkable 41% reduction in single-use plastics per room night compared to our 2019 baseline. Join us on International Plastic Bag Free Day (3 July) as we take a stand against plastic pollution! We're taking concrete steps across our hotels to eliminate disposable plastics. For instance, we're transitioning installing filtered water taps in guest rooms, or providing filtered water in reusable or recyclable bottles. We've also bid farewell to fully plastic takeaway containers, cutlery, and straws, replacing them with sustainable alternatives.

Our passionate colleagues are driving change too! Beach cleans and litter picks are regular activities at our hotels to keep plastics out of local ecosystems and protect our seafronts. For example, JEN Shenzhen Qianhai by Shangri-la Banquet uses bottled water in glass bottles to reduce the production of plastic bottled water, while the Housekeeping uses degradable garbage bags to reduce the impact of plastic use on the environment.
