Reni’s 51st came with a bang.

Today, this repeat group of friends from New York got a real taste of what Black Sands Lodge is all about. Between celebrations, chaos on the deck, and nonstop action, the crew managed to break the lodge record not once, but twice.

With 19 yellowfin tuna landed in a single day, Rob reset the benchmark with a 195 lb giant, only to see Reni answer back with an incredible 176 lb fish of his own. Light tackle battles at their absolute finest in a fishery that is simply not for the faint of heart.

March is kicking off exactly how we like it — explosive.

As summer settles, colder water has pushed the system into overdrive. Massive crab hatches, tuna feeding non-stop, and the ocean absolutely alive. Pelicans are diving everywhere, whale sharks are showing up daily, and all signs point to what could be a historic sardine run.

The waters off Black Sands Lodge proved it once again.

Last week, a returning angler from New York experienced what can only be described as a once-in-a-lifetime topwater session. Massive schools of 100+ lb yellowfin tuna exploding on the surface… chaos, power, and precision all at once.

A new lodge record was set — 175 lb yellowfin on topwater.

Burnt drags.
Rods pushed to the limit.
Shoulders completely shot.
