UPDATE: Many of you have asked how you can help. ❤️
We’ve shared several large, reputable organizations accepting direct donations, but some of you have also asked how you can support our team and the wider community more personally.
In response, Araucana Lodge and Colombia Birdwatch have created a donation fund to help members of our staff and others affected by the earthquake.
Our efforts will extend beyond the Araucana Lodge family. Together with our friend Julio Delgado of Yotoco Lodge and Dacnis, the Cauca Valley Ornithological Society, we are purchasing and delivering urgently needed supplies to rescue teams and shelters in Cali and throughout the affected region—particularly in smaller, hard-hit municipalities where help has been slower to arrive.
We are also working with Nicky and Mauricio Ossa to relaunch Birders Together, an initiative created by Colombian bird-tour operators during the pandemic. Once again, we hope to bring Colombia’s birding community—and our friends around the world—together to support people in a time of extraordinary need.
