After a lot of reflection and many emotional conversations, we’ve come to one of the hardest decisions of our lives: we will be closing our campsite forever.
Writing these words truly breaks our hearts. What began as a dream —to create a small, peaceful place for travelers to rest and connect with nature— has turned into a beautiful but also very challenging chapter of our lives.
Over the past year, we’ve had to face many difficulties on the land where the campsite is located. The heavy rains, especially this year, have been stronger than ever, making it almost impossible at times to receive guests. The public road that leads to our property has been so badly damaged by the rain that it has become nearly impossible to reach without a 4x4 or high clearance. Sadly, even after several conversations with our neighbors and the local municipality, there’s still no real solution in sight.
Besides these local challenges, we’ve also struggled with administrative and immigration issues. We feel that it’s not easy for foreigners in Colombia to start small, independent projects. Renewing our visa has become an exhausting and uncertain process, and it’s made us realize that continuing here simply isn’t possible anymore.
To keep going would mean investing even more money, energy, and hope — something that, under all these circumstances, no longer makes sense.
We are deeply sad to say goodbye to this dream, but also immensely grateful for everything it brought us —for every traveler who stayed with us, every story shared around the campfire, every smile, every kind word. You’ve all made this place something truly special.
Despite all the challenges, we’re proud that we made this dream come true —faithful to our travel name: explore life. 🌍
Now the road leads us back to Switzerland… and maybe there, with the spirit of La Cabra Gris, we’ll finally have a “grey goat.” 🐐💫 😉
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to everyone who supported us, visited us, and believed in what we created here. ❤️
