Bacoa Hostel sits on the edge of a lake in the Antióquian mountains of Colombia. This beautiful traditional country house is the perfect place for an adventure off the beaten track. We have plenty of dorms and private cabins with spectacular views of the lake and the famous rock of Peñol for those who want to make their stay that little bit more magical. The hostel is surrounded by woodlands and stunning landscapes just waiting to be explored, and anything from kayaking, SUP or fishing to cycling or horse riding can be arranged. Check out the local town of Guatape or for those who aren’t scared of heights, the climb up the rock is a must!
For those who are looking to just spend some down time (or if you’ve just climbed the rock of Peñol), what better place than somewhere you can spend your days chilling in the sunshine on our decking or down by the lake drinking beer or munching on snacks from the bar.
The evenings may mean a drop in temperature but the atmosphere continues into the night as everyone comes to feast round the table and gather round the bonfire with mulled wine or hot canelazo, (our delicious colombian equivalent), meeting our Bacoa family and sharing the unforgettable experience with new likeminded people.
Our ethos is about bringing people together and immersing them in the natural beauty our surroundings have to offer. Our three meals a day are prepared using local produce and we aim to be as sustainable as possible, although we understand you need your hot showers! Reach us by catching a bus from Medellin to the town of Peñol and take a jeep from there for your adventure to Bacoa!
