Did you know that the emancipation of San Andres Island took place 29 years before the USA????
This is the first Baptist Church of San Andres Island. It was founded by Philip Beekman Livingston. He first started his work with a school.
He used to teach the slaves to read, write and basic arithmetic operations.
The church’s mission began under a Tamarind Tree which is now located to the southern wall of the church building. Check the last photo!!!
The church building was brought to the island on boat from Mobile, Alabama (USA). It is the oldest church on the island and, because of this most of the island inhabitants profess the Baptist religion.
Philip Beekman Livingston became the emancipator of the Island’s slaves in 1834.
*** GOSSIP time 🤫🤫🤫: Philip Beekman Livingston married Josephine Pomare, a former slave. This was highly judged by people back in the day. However, they had a few children and live together until their death ***

Rocky Cay is a walk or swim distance from the closest beach. You don't need to take a boat to get there (although you can if you want!).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Something we do recommend you is to take your snorkel and watch the marine life that is present around Rocky Cay.
You will be amazed by it and if you go a bit further, you will also find sunken pieces of the abandon boat near by.

Overall you will have an awesome experience.

Calling all Scuba diving lovers or those who wants to have the experience at some point in their lives.

One of our guests, went diving yesterday and she shared with us that was the coolest thing she has ever done.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
"When I got in the water it was like I was in a different world! I saw all kinds of fish, small, big and colourful. It felt really freeing to swim 10m in the water while breathing, I felt like I was part of the ocean. The highlight of the diving experience was when we saved a seahorse who were stuck in seaweed."
