Our Story
Welcome to our Lake Arenal Bed and Breakfast in gorgeous Costa Rica! Here, the food is delicious, the views are outstanding, and the activities are plentiful. We would be honored to be your hosts while you experience some of the very best that Costa Rica has to offer.
After many visits to Costa Rica, Cathy & John Nicholas moved from New York to Costa Rica in 1991. They chose Arenal for it’s sacred & majestic beauty, its lush wildlife, its relaxing lifestyle, and its proximity to activities and sites such as Arenal volcano and the beaches. Shortly after their move, they opened Chalet Nicholas Bed & Breakfast and started hosting their 1st guests!
As you enter the private road to this charming Costa Rican Bed and Breakfast, you’ll drive under a flowering bougainvillea and the magic begins. Suddenly, you are in a clearing, and Chalet Nicholas appears on the hilltop. You will be enchanted by the views you’ll see of Lake Arenal and Volcano Arenal.
Cathy also operates Lake Arenal Properties (lakearenalproperties.com) as so many of the guests at Chalet Nicholas have decided to make the Lake Arenal area their home (or at least 2nd home). With her vast knowledge and experience in the area, Cathy has helped many guests become neighbors and life-long friends!
