Situated 2 KM west of Nuevo Arenal, this Restaurant (Caballo Negro), Gallery, and Bed and Breakfast offers many choices for the traveler.

Good food, good accommodations, and unique gifts makes this a destination for travelers. The Bed and Breakfast offers travelers a reasonably priced option for a beautiful stay. The rooms are exquisitely decorated, and the views are amazing. After your restful night's sleep, you wake up to many kinds of birds, or sometimes howler monkeys. From there you go get your breakfast at Caballo Negro, where you can sit outside looking back at your room and a private lake that has many birds and animals. The restaurant is also open for Lunch, offering many international specialties, such as corned beef. Strudel, and some special German favorites. While waiting for your meal to be prepared, walk through the Lucky Bug Art gallery and look at a possible addition for your home or even a gift for someone when your travels are complete. Lucky Bug B&B and Caballo Negro will help in making your travels memorable.

When Monika bought this property, she didn't plan to open a restaurant, gallery, or bed and breakfast.

She and her husband, Willie, moved from California to Costa Rica to find a quieter life. But Monika has always been an entrepreneur, and before long Restaurante Caballo Negro was born.

The gallery came next as she began working with talented Costa Rican artists. Then she created the Lucky Bug Bed & Breakfast.

What many people don't realize is that all three were intentionally designed to work together. The restaurant and gallery sit on the main road around Lake Arenal, while the B&B was built nearly 200 meters back from the road to create a peaceful retreat away from traffic noise.

Some guests discover us through the gallery. Others come for the restaurant. Many stay in the B&B and end up enjoying all three.

For years, we thought people came to Lucky Bug for a place to stay.
