🇨🇷✨ It’s been a little quiet from our side… but for a very good reason.

We can finally share the news we’ve been waiting so long to say: We bought a house! 🏡💛

It hasn’t been an easy road. The process tested our patience more than once, with twists, doubts, and moments where we wondered if it would ever happen. But looking back now… it was absolutely worth the wait.

And while one door opens, another one gently closes. With this new chapter, we’ve decided to leave the hospitality world behind us. Instead, we’re choosing to create a place of our own — a home, a nest, a space to truly land.

What the future will bring? We’ll discover that along the way. But for now, we’re exactly where we’re meant to be.

New beginnings ahead 🌿✨

As we come to the end of this year, we are closing not only 2025, but also a very special chapter of our lives: Kas ChuChubi on Bonaire.

While one chapter closes, a new one is quietly beginning for us — leading us toward a new adventure in Costa Rica. We take all the beautiful Kas ChuChubi memories with us as we move forward, knowing they will always connect us.

We wish you a beautiful Christmas and a New Year filled with love, warmth and beautiful new beginnings.

🇨🇷 Month three in Costa Rica — the chapter of choices.

Our third month has been all about exploring possibilities, wandering through neighborhoods, and slowly figuring out where “home” might be. We spent countless hours driving through winding mountain roads, stepping into houses with incredible views, quirky layouts, hidden gems… and a few absolute “nope, not this one” moments.

Somewhere along the way, we also became surprisingly fluent in the mysterious world of planos, uso de suelos, and servidumbres. Terms that felt intimidating at first have now become part of our daily conversations — though we still laugh at how serious we sound when discussing land setbacks and access rights over a cup of Costa Rican coffee. ☕

And of course, this chapter hasn’t only been about exploring — it has also been about waiting. Waiting for answers, waiting for official documents, waiting for the next steps to fall into place. Some days felt like an endless pause ⏸️

We’re not there yet… but we’re getting closer.

Month two in Costa Rica — 🐍🌎 Snakes, shakes & a sign from Bonaire!

🏡 19 house viewings (the hunt is on!)
🐍 Met a Fer de Lance during a night mangrove tour (heart rate: max 😅)
🌊 Beach days at Playa Bejuco & Playa Banderas
⛰️ Headed inland toward the mountains of the Central Valley, trading palm trees for cool mountain air
🥭 Learned the difference between mango and manga
🌎 And… experienced our first earthquake — a little shake to remind us who’s boss! 😳
🇧🇶 And then… we spotted a Bonaire sign! It instantly brought back sweet Kas ChuChubi memories!

First 4 weeks in Costa Rica - Pura Vida! 🇨🇷

Here’s what we’ve been up to:
🚘 Bought a car (yep… through a lawyer, like buying a house!)
🏡 Stayed at the beautiful Casa Dandillo
🌿 Explored the lush surroundings of Ojochal
🐋 Whale-watching in Uvita (goosebumps!)
🐊 Got scared silly by a caiman at Hacienda Barú
🌊 Played in the waves at Playa Ventanas
🛒 Learned our way around the supermarkets
💬 Practiced our Spanish… so we don’t accidentally buy a chicken instead of a house 🏡🔑🐓😂.

Costa Rica is starting to feel like home… and the real adventure starts soon: in October we kick off our house hunt! 🏠✨

Guess who finally joined the club? 😉

The past six weeks have been a whirlwind.

We served our last breakfasts 🥐☕, waved goodbye to our final guests, packed up our lives, sold our house 🏡, and worked through all the paperwork.

But in between, we also made time to soak up the island, enjoy precious moments with friends 🥂💛, and even set sail on an unforgettable trip to Curaçao with SoloBon Sailing Bonaire ⛵️🐠

And now… it’s time for the next step. A little scary, very exciting and full of possibilities. Here we go! 🌍💫 🙌

Dear guests,

With warm hearts – and a touch of sadness – we want to let you know that B&B Kas ChuChubi has closed its doors.

As of this week our beloved place on Bonaire has been sold. The new owners will take it in a different direction and it will become part of an already existing accommodation.

For some of you, this may come as a surprise. For us, it’s a decision made with love, filled with memories, and yes, a little heartache. But we feel that the time has come for a new adventure.

We want to thank all of our guests from the bottom of our hearts – for your trust, the wonderful conversations, the laughter over breakfast, the great stories shared, and the warmth you brought to Kas ChuChubi. Without you, this place would never have become what it was. These are memories we will always cherish.

And now?
We’re turning the page to a new chapter – hopefully in Costa Rica 🇨🇷.
Let’s see if ChuChubi can find a new nest there.
