One of our favorite things about living on this little river is realizing it has some “regulars”. The same birds fly into the canopy above most mornings. We’re learning the different lizards habits and where they feel safe and sun. This tiger heron comes by daily and usually gives a little show. She does her little grunts and when she flies you hear her wings moving. She makes my day! And needs a name! Come meet her at Blue Palm Bed & Breakfast!

Mornings at Blue Palm Bed & Breakfast are full of birdsong, river sounds, and a perfect cup of coffee 🌿🐦

This week from our river-view terrace we’ve spotted dozens of birds, just to name a few:
✨ Ringed Kingfisher
🦜 Yellow-naped Amazon Parrot
🌸 Rose-throated Becard
🌾 Bare-throated Tiger Heron
💙 Blue-gray Tanager

Coffee tastes better when the soundtrack is tropical birds and flowing water.

If you’re a bird lover, photographer, or just someone who enjoys slow mornings in nature, Blue Palm is your perfect little escape. 🌴

The rancho at is our favorite place to relax and watch the wildlife. It sits above this little rio.

We’re surrounded by dozens of species of birds, lizards, squirrels, and even the occasional kinkajou! Now we’re patiently waiting for the monkeys to come say hello too 🐒🌴

Whether you’re just arriving in Costa Rica or heading home, Blue Palm is the perfect place to spend your first and last night. Or stay with us for your entire trip! And yes — we offer transportation too!

Come unwind with us in paradise 💙🌴🍃

Rainy season in Atenas is pure magic. From May-November we will get rain almost daily.
In rainy season at Blue Palm Bed & Breakfast, the mornings start fresh and sunny with your homemade breakfast, the river runs a little fuller these days, and the afternoons bring those sweet-smelling tropical showers. That’s the perfect time for a hot pour-over coffee, a relaxing swing in the hammock with a book, or a siesta!

When the sun comes back out (and it usually does), everything is greener, cooler, and incredibly peaceful. 💙

If you’ve been thinking about a quiet Costa Rica escape, rainy season might just be the best-kept secret. ☕🌧️🌴
