The Birdhouse lets you experience endangered wild macaws up close. Enjoy your breakfast in the observation room while the birds eat just outside.

The Birdhouse is a two-story Americanized Tico house located halfway between Aguas Zarcas and Ciudad Quesada in San Carlos, Costa Rica. The house features a wraparound balcony that offers stunning views of Arenal Volcano and the surrounding countryside, including a lovely nighttime view of Ciudad Quesada. It is a 2/2 and sleeps four comfortably (one queen, one full). All rooms are outfitted with a

ir conditioners and ceiling fans. There is a fully equipped kitchen and onsite exercise machines. Snacks are available for purchase. A Weber BBQ grill is also available. The house is not equipped with cable, but guests will have access to an extensive video library, as well as English-language reading material. Both bathrooms offer hot water showers. Guests also have access to our bird observation room. The house is non-smoking. Parking is available, and a bus passes directly in front of the house at regular intervals. The house is less than a five minute drive to the nearest hot springs, approximately an hour and 15 minutes from La Paz Waterfall, about an hour's drive to La Fortuna and Arenal Volcano, and roughly two and a half hours from San Jose. We are approximately equidistant from both coasts. The owner lives onsite to assist with any last minute needs or advice. Guests should love dogs as the owner is a dog lover and several live onsite. If you miss your dog, you can probably borrow one for the night. :)

Two, three, and four day stays are available. Your per night pricing is lower the longer your stay. You must check with the owner to confirm availability. Full payment is required upfront via PayPal. We cannot offer refunds, but we are more than happy to work with you to find alternative dates.

We've been having some lovely weather lately. Don't you wish you could experience it yourself? Great news: you can! Let us know when you'd like to come stay, and we'll get the house ready for you. We can't promise that the birds will be here, but that volcano isn't going anywhere anytime soon. :)

P.S. These were taken this afternoon from the back patio of the house. The hibiscus is in the yard.

From their behavior, they seem like siblings. I'm not sure what they are discussing, but it seems important. This was filmed about a week ago. I love how the closer one interacts with that adult hybrid. It's almost like it's saying, "Whaaaat?"

If you book now, you can see this kind of thing in person. How exciting would that be?!

The Birdhouse is the guesthouse affiliated with our organization Macaws CR. We're finally ready to start booking, so if you or someone you know is planning a trip to Costa Rica and is interested in experiencing some of the amazing Costa Rican wildlife up close, please let us know!

The house is a fully-furnished, fully-stocked 2/2, with air conditioning and ceiling fans throughout, as well as hot water showers (many Costa Rican homes don't have water heaters, so this is important to note). It has a wraparound balcony that offers 180-degree + views, including Arenal Volcano. It's located only a few minutes from some lovely hot springs. Oh, and most importantly, the ever increasing local flock of wild macaws stops in several times a day to eat. :)
