Del 4 al 9 de septiembre, presenciamos la segunda arribada masiva de Corozalito 🏡, con un total de 12631 tortugas 🐢 y con una oportunidad de ver una arribada durante el día, un evento que no ocurría desde el 2019 💚, gracias a todos por su apoyo en el control y cuido de éstas maravillosas criaturas

From September 4th to 9th, we witnessed the second mass arrival of Corozalito 🏡, with a total of 12631 turtles 🐢 and the opportunity to see an arrival during the day, an event that had not occurred since 2019 💚. Thank you all for your support in monitoring and caring for these wonderful creatures

5 Curiosities About Turtles

1- Sea turtles have navigated our oceans for over 100 million years, which means they coexisted with dinosaurs

2- They can hold their breath underwater for up to 7 hours. To achieve this, they slow down their heart rate, allowing them to conserve oxygen.

3- Sea turtles have an excellent sense of direction, as they are able to detect the Earth's magnetic fields.

4- The s*x of the hatchlings depends on the nest temperature: cooler incubations produce males, while warmer incubations produce females.

5- Female sea turtles always return to the same beach where they were born to build their own nests and lay their eggs.

Our story
A few years ago, Mr. Elías Quesada y Mrs. Hilda Viales made the decision to move to San Ramón, Alajuela, to support their children’s education. Their home in Corozalito, built with effort and love, was left unoccupied… until workers and tourists, drawn by the beauty of the area, began to arrive 🌳

With the help of relatives in the area, they started renting it out, taking the first steps toward what would become a family project. With dedication and love, that initial house grew: three more cabins were added, along with a swimming pool and different tours so visitors could experience the best of Corozalito 🏡

Our closeness to the beach and to the turtles that visit every season sparked a desire to learn more about them and help them.
Today, Corozalito Turtle Lodge is a place where family hospitality meets nature, offering every guest a space to enjoy, relax, and become part of our story 🐢💚
