This curious river otter was fotographed by one of our guests in the pond across our restaurant on new years eve.

Today we were witnesses to this battle between one of our resident caimans and a big Ferdelance. The ferdelance did not survive this encounter. The caiman was defending it's nest.

The Black-cheeked Ant Tanager (Habia atrimaxilaris) is not the most colorful bird of our forest and garden, but it is one of the most searched for. People from all over the world visit us to see it and we are very lucky to wake up almost every morning to this beautiful soft song. ¡Sound on! 🔊 (video@ Andrey Acosta)

We had a great birding week with several groups visiting over the last couple of days and weeks. On several days our pre-breakfast birding tours brought up more than 100 species in our garden and surroundings and sometimes our guests get really lucky with rare sights such as this beautiful Agami Heron (Agami agami)
