20 reasons why people feel more stress-free the moment they land in beautiful Costa Rica. It starts the moment those wheels touch the tarmac in Liberia or San José... and then, PURA VIDA takes over!
1. Your shoulders drop two inches the moment the plane lands.
It’s like Costa Rica hands you an invisible massage.
2. The airport security dogs are wagging their tails.
Even they live Pura Vida. No stress-sniffing here—just good vibes and a snack break.
3. The heat hugs you like an old friend.
“Hola amigo, welcome back. We missed your sweat.”
4. Everyone smiles at you... even the customs officer.
And suddenly you forget you're wearing socks with sandals.
5. The guy who helps with your luggage says, “Tranquilo, mi amigo.”
And you believe him more than your therapist.
6. No one’s in a rush—ever.
Even the clocks seem to be on a hammock break.
7. The sound of birds is louder than your anxiety.
And toucans don’t do email.
8. You can’t remember where your phone is... and don’t even care.
It’s probably sunbathing on the back of a sloth.
9. Your biggest decision is “beach or waterfall?”
A stressful day means you had to do both.
10. No honking, just howler monkeys doing their thing.
Sure, they’re loud, but they don’t want your parking spot.
11. Rice and beans become your new therapy.
And gallo pinto listens without judgment.
12. You see someone in a hammock by 8am and think, “That’s productivity!”
Costa Rica rewrites your definition of success.
13. Flip-flops become your official work shoes.
And if you wear actual shoes, someone asks, “Are you okay?”
14. You forget what your car horn sounds like.
Probably because the iguanas don’t cut you off in traffic.
**15. You start saying “Pura Vida” in response to everything.
Lost your wallet? Pura Vida. Got stung by a bee? Pura Vida. Won the lottery? Extra Pura Vida.
16. You wake up to the sun and birds, not your alarm clock.
And the rooster becomes your life coach.
17. Your “To-Do” list says: 1. Breathe. 2. Repeat.
And you feel accomplished.
18. You start measuring time in cups of coffee.
“See you in three cafés” is totally legit.
19. A stranger offers you fruit and you accept without fear.
Because papayas are trustworthy here.
20. And finally… you step barefoot into the sand and suddenly realize…
You’ve officially retired from stress.
Welcome to Costa Rica, where your stress goes through customs… but doesn’t make it out the other side. 🌴☕🐒 Pura Vida, always!

Cocos Island, Costa Rica may be the most beautiful island in the world. Located 550 km off the Pacific coast of Costa Rica, it is a protected National Park and UNESCO World Heritage site with extremely limited access. With a surface area of 2,400 hectares it supports the only humid tropical forest on an oceanic island in the Eastern Tropical Pacific and boasts a near pristine conservation status.

Costa Rica is one of the best places in the world to experience the magic of sea turtles. This small but biodiverse country is home to five species of sea turtles, each with its own unique charm. Here’s a joyful overview of these incredible creatures:

🐢 1. Olive Ridley Turtle (Lepidochelys olivacea)
Best known for: The “arribadas” – synchronized mass nestings where thousands of turtles come ashore at once.

Where to see them: Playa Ostional and Playa Nancite (especially between July and November).

Fun fact: During arribadas, you might see up to 10,000 turtles nesting in just a few days. It's a once-in-a-lifetime spectacle!

🐢 2. Leatherback Turtle (Dermochelys coriacea)
The giant of the group!

Where to see them: Las Baulas National Marine Park (near Tamarindo), Playa Grande, and Playa Langosta.

Nesting season: October to March.

Fun fact: They can grow up to 2 meters (6.5 feet) and weigh more than 900 kg (2,000 lbs)! And despite their size, they glide so gracefully through the sea.

🐢 3. Green Turtle (Chelonia mydas)
Peaceful and majestic.

Where to see them: Tortuguero National Park on the Caribbean coast is the top spot.

Nesting season: July to October.

Fun fact: Named not for their shell but for the greenish color of their body fat, due to their vegetarian diet of seagrass and algae!

🐢 4. Hawksbill Turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata)
Beautiful and critically endangered.

Where to see them: Cahuita National Park and the Gandoca-Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge.

Fun fact: Their gorgeous, colorful shells have unfortunately made them a target in the past, but Costa Rica is working hard to protect them. They help keep coral reefs healthy by eating sponges that compete with coral.

🐢 5. Loggerhead Turtle (Caretta caretta)
Less common in Costa Rica, but still makes appearances.

Where to see them: Occasionally seen on both coasts, especially during migration seasons.

Fun fact: They have massive, powerful jaws—perfect for cracking open hard-shelled prey like conchs and crabs.

🌊 Why Costa Rica is a Turtle Paradise:
The country’s strong conservation efforts, marine parks, and eco-conscious communities help protect nesting beaches.

Guided turtle-watching tours are run respectfully and under strict guidelines to avoid disturbing the turtles.

There are plenty of volunteer opportunities to help with turtle conservation if you're looking to give back.

Whether you’re watching tiny hatchlings shuffle toward the ocean or witnessing a mama turtle heaving herself onto the sand under the moonlight, it’s pure magic. The turtles of Costa Rica remind us how delicate and wondrous nature truly is.
