Why is important to look at the ocean before paddling out?

1. Understand the conditions:
You can check wave size, frequency, and shape to see if it suits your skill level.

2. Spot hazards:
Look for rocks, rip currents, shallow spots, or other surfers that could pose a danger.

3. Find the best spot:
You’ll see where the waves are breaking best and where others are catching rides.

4. Plan your paddle out:
Watching sets and timing lulls helps you avoid getting caught inside when paddling out.

5. Stay safe and surf better:
The more you know about what the ocean is doing, the smarter and more confident your session will be.

In short, a few minutes of observation can save you a lot of energy and keep you safer!
