Costa Rica is special. With a population of just over 4 million inhabitants, a life expectancy of 78 years, literacy rates of 97%, an imperishable democracy, a protected territory of more than 27% and no army has been considered the happiest country of the world twice.
The Costa Rican is educated in their dealings and is always willing to help the visitor with directions even if they do not understand the language. The majority of the population is concentrated in the Central Valley where the most populated cities are, Heredia, Alajuela, Cartago and San José, the capital, where government, business and cultural activity is concentrated. The rest of the country is to enjoy its forests, rivers, volcanoes and beaches.
