We are the only network of hostels in Costa Rica our hostels have won awards around the globe and are known as the best budget options for travelers in the country. With almost across the board "Author's choice" reviews for our hostels from the most popular travel guides (such as "Lonely Planet"), the Costa Rica Hostel Network boasts with accommodations for all the travel types and locations acros
s the country. Pangea being often called one of the coolest hostels in the country, features everything a backpacker needs: from a rooftop bar, heated pool, restaurant, a bar/disco (stripper pole included), free Wi-Fi/internet, heated water and orthopedic mattresses (something rare in the local hostel business and featured in every bed within this hostel network). It may be quietly tucked in downtown San Jose, but don't forget that here is where the party (and culture) never ends. In the northern part of downtown San Jose, where most of the college crowd hangs and studies, we have a hostel with big rooms, a big swimming pool and big communal areas. Even though is around one of the busiest parts of SJ, when it comes to nightlife, its surprisingly quiet, and quite popular for the budget deal crowd. Alajuela Backpackers: One of the most recent hostels to join the network, is new in so many ways (counting the building). When you go inside, it looks more like an HOTEL than hostel. Its super close to the intl airport, it has one of the best oven-fresh baked pizzas and its incomparable rooftop bar, with amazing views of the valley. Arenal Backpackers: This self-proclaimed 5-star hostel is THE place to stay in the Arenal/La Fortuna area. Featuring a swimming pool, spacious lawns (and hammocks to lounge in), flat screen TV’s, A/C and more (volcano views included), you will wonder why would you want to leave. Tamarindo Backpackers: Get ready to be pampered. This hostel looks more like a beach house than a hostel. With a swimming pool and large house with a communal kitchen and lots of indoors/outdoors areas to hang out and chill, you will love it (and the fact that is walking distance from town/the beach). Monteverde Backpackers: This reformed costarican house is as cozy and quaint as it gets. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, and it features some lovely, quaint rooms and several areas to mingle with other travelers and share road stories. Our guests seem to be especially akin to our private bathrooms.
