Finca Buen Pais

Finca Buen Pais Finca Buen Pais is a beautiful private resort set atop the lush mountains of the Mal Pais/Santa Teresa area.

While here you will enjoy excellent accommodations and serenity with amazing sunsets. Finca Buen Pais is a 55-acre private reserve and art garden. The land is lush with tropical foliage, flowering trees and shrubs, and fruit trees. There is abundant wildlife, including howler monkeys, gautusas, coatimundis, ocelots, jagarundis, deer, armadillo, and peccaries, and there are a wide assortment of col

orful birds, including parrots, parakeets, toucans, motmots, manakins, woodpeckers, hummingbirds, and trogans. The land is bordered on three sides by rivers that have carved deep jungle ravines. Here there are towering ancient trees, rarely seen in much of Costa Rica or the world, some covered with exotic orchids and epiphytes. Trails lead to a private waterfall with its own swimming hole. The rolling hills and gardens afford many private areas to watch a turkey vulture dry its wings, observe a mother howler monkey carrying her tiny baby, or simply sit in peaceful reflection. There is a full-time caretaker who maintains the property. Buen Pais offers the perfect combination of serenity and accessibility. If you want, you can read a book in the hammock on your veranda or at poolside. You can ride horses on backcountry trails to a deep swimming hole on the nearby Rio Ario or go bird watching in the cool morning. But if you want to explore, the tourist towns of Montezuma, Santa Theresa, and Mal Pais are only 30 minutes away. In addition, an easy 10 minute drive finds you in nearby Manzanillo, an undeveloped beach on which one can walk for miles and, on many days, not see another person. Among the many activities easily available from Finca Buen Pais are: horseback riding; snorkeling; surfing; canopy tours; golf; scuba diving; and sea kayaking. You can take a boat trip to Isla Tortuga; hike to the Montezuma waterfall; explore rivers and a private waterfall at Finca Buen Pais; get a massage poolside from a professional masseur; take yoga classes on the beach; swim in the pool; tour a turtle hatchery; hike at Cabo Blanco Wildlife Refuge; look for fossils on Manzanillo beach; beachcomb at Curú Nature Preserve; birdwatch right from your veranda; or enjoy the sunset from the rancho.
