(3/3) Seeing Gus and Josef thrive in the wild is nothing short of wonderful 💚

After spending over a year with us at Ara Manzanillo practicing essential survival skills — flying strong, cracking beach and mountain almonds, and mock foraging — these two young macaws have now been living free for more than six months.

They still look and act like juveniles — because they are — but that’s exactly what makes their success so encouraging. Every day they spend navigating the forest, finding food, and staying safe means they’re growing more capable and confident.

If they’ve made it this far, their road ahead will only get easier 🌿 Seeing them soar through the canopy, wild and independent, is the most rewarding reminder of why we do this work 🦜

Después de pasar más de un año con nosotros en Ara Manzanillo practicando habilidades esenciales para su supervivencia —volar con fuerza, romper almendros de playa y de montaña, y realizar simulaciones de forrajeo—, estas dos jóvenes guacamayas ya llevan más de seis meses viviendo en libertad.

Aún se ven y se comportan como juveniles —porque lo son—, pero eso es precisamente lo que hace que su éxito sea tan alentador. Cada día que pasan explorando el bosque, encontrando alimento y manteniéndose a salvo significa que se vuelven más fuertes y seguras.

Si han llegado hasta aquí, el camino que tienen por delante solo será más fácil 🌿 Verlas volar libres por el dosel, salvajes e independientes, es el recordatorio más gratificante de por qué hacemos este trabajo 🦜
