Rainbow Valley Lodge, near Santa Elena, with breathtaking views of Monteverde’s mountains. Rainbows can also appear in the valley, hence the name.

Located on the edge of the forest you have privacy and very little noise. The forest setting allows you the opportunity to view various bird species, both up close, as well as flying high over the valley in front of you. Also the abundance of fruit trees surrounding the rooms attracts (in season) birds, Coatis, and white faced monkeys. (Since we have no animal training background, viewing animals

is all based on luck). The rooms are built to N. American standards. Only two rooms and a cabin. You can be assured of privacy, not only due to the lack of rooms but also because the rooms are located a minimum of 150 meters from any neighbour and are well below the road level, although some outside noise can be heard depending on the direction of the wind. Each room is nicely decorated with ceiling and side wall lighting and reading lamps for the bed and bedside table. A tiled bath with hot water to the sink and shower, and a GAS fired hot water heater assures plenty of hot water when you return from hiking through the Cloud Forest. There is a lighted parking lot just up from the rooms. The lodge is perfect for cozy romantic getaways or for anyone wanting to enjoy privacy and nature at the same time. But don’t be skeptical of the price as you will find the quality of the rooms themselves to compare very favourably to any others in Monteverde at the same price. We think that you will agree that there is no lodging in Monteverde that is a better value.
