A few ways to spend your days in Montezuma — one of the most overlooked spots on Costa Rica’s Pacific coast 🇨🇷
Most people skip Montezuma for the bigger, more built-up beach towns. And honestly, that’s exactly why it still feels the way it does.
From Ylang Ylang Beach Resort, everything is right on your doorstep.
— The main Montezuma waterfall. Swim, climb, jump, hang out on the rocks. If you’re up for it, keep climbing — there’s a trail that leads to another waterfall further up that fewer people know about.
— Walk the Montezuma coastline and look closely. Natural pools form between the rocks with the tide — easy to miss, but some of the best spots to cool off.
— Surf at Playa Grande, part of a protected reserve. Only reachable by walking along a jungle trail. leads surf lessons there, and pick you up from Ylang Ylang. The beach is wide, open, and undeveloped — great for beginner surfers as well as those with experience.
— For something more active, zipline through the jungle, horse ride a long the beach, or head out with to explore more of this stretch of the Pacific. Like Isla Tortuga — clear water and a full day out.
And then come back to us to slow down…
Yoga by the ocean, a massage tucked into the trees, dinner with your feet in the sand.
Montezuma isn’t polished, and it doesn’t try to be. That’s why people miss it… and exactly why you shouldn’t.
