Monkeys are one of our country’s most iconic wildlife sights, but their future is under growing pressure.
Three of Costa Rica’s four native monkey species are now at risk of local extinction as forest loss, coastal development, and fragmented habitat make survival harder. '
Spider monkeys have already disappeared from some areas, while howler monkeys, squirrel monkeys, and white-faced capuchins face mounting threats from roads, power lines, dogs, and human activity.
