Costa Rica packs an extraordinary amount of biodiversity into a small area:
* It contains about 5% of the world’s biodiversity, even though it covers only around 0.03% of Earth’s land surface—making it one of the most biologically rich countries per square mile.
* The country is home to over 500,000 species, including roughly 900 bird species and over 1,200 species of butterflies, thanks to its wide range of ecosystems like rainforests, cloud forests, and coastal habitats. It makes my heart happy to get to enjoy all the nature of this country!
