🌿 THE OSA PENINSULA — WILD BY NATURE

The Osa Peninsula is recognized as one of the most biologically diverse places on Earth—and these photos are just a glimpse of what surrounds us every day.

Four species of monkeys. Two species of sloths. Baird’s tapirs moving through the rainforest. Scarlet macaws flying overhead. Hundreds of species of birds. And in the Golfo Dulce, dolphins, sea turtles and migrating humpback whales.

The geography of the Osa is just as remarkable. Dense rainforest stretches to the edge of the Pacific, while the Golfo Dulce borders the peninsula on the other side, creating an extraordinary intersection of terrestrial and marine ecosystems.

And this is only a glimpse of the biodiversity found across the Osa Peninsula.

From the rainforest canopy to the Golfo Dulce and the Pacific beyond, wildlife is simply part of everyday life here. 🌿🐒🦥🦜🐋🌊

Proud to welcome our friends from Camp Freedom back to Crocodile Bay for two back-to-back groups.

Their second reunion trip brought four women—three career veterans and a veteran’s family member—to Costa Rica for healing time together.

Our ongoing relationship with Camp Freedom means a great deal to our team. It’s an honor to share time on the water with these deserving guests and support their mission of healing through outdoor adventures. Great job Captain Manuel Mate Esteban and Mate Charlie on War Dog, FR 36’.

Let’s dive into the diverse snapper fishery of the Golfo Dulce. 🎣

Bill Hewitt was on an inshore roll aboard the Jailhouse Croc, with Cubera Snapper and numerous other snappers keeping the action going.

With a dozen varieties of snapper found in the waters around the Osa, there’s a lot of diversity to explore within this inshore fishery. From the powerful Cubera to the many other snappers inhabiting these waters, you never quite know what might be on the other end of the line.

And a nice roosterfish to round out the day!

Tuna Tuesday — and this one is a DOOZY! 🎣🔥

135 pounds at the dock! This beautiful yellowfin put up one heck of a fight aboard Jailhouse Croc with Captain Oldemar and Mate Gerardo.

September continues to deliver some incredible days on the water. Blue skies, low crowds, and some seriously good fishing — with the yellowfin bite leading the charge.

A special time of year in the Golfo Dulce. 🐋💙

Each year, humpback mothers and their calves arrive in the warm, protected waters of the Golfo Dulce, one of the most unique marine environments in Costa Rica.

One of only a few tropical fjords in the world, the gulf’s deep waters and sheltered coastline create an important nursery for humpbacks. Here, mothers can care for their newborn calves as they nurse, grow and gain the strength needed for the long migration ahead.

Seeing these magnificent animals is always extraordinary, but watching a mother and calf breach together is something truly special—and one of the remarkable sights of whale season on the Osa Peninsula. 🐋🌿🇨🇷 Thank you Esteban
