One of the highlights of Summer ’26 was hosting the inaugural Casting for Care Classic at Crocodile Bay and Botánika Osa Peninsula. 🎣

Casting for Care was created to take care of our own—providing support to offshore fishermen, captains and mates when an injury at sea changes everything for them and their families.

We were incredibly proud to be part of the first Classic and even prouder to support the mission behind it.

THE SUMMER OF THE ROOSTER 🐓🎣

Roosterfish are a year-round part of the Crocodile Bay fishery, but June, July and August gave us plenty to talk about.

From fast-paced action to some truly trophy-class fish, the summer months delivered an incredible stretch of roosterfishing along the Osa Peninsula.

The Osa’s rugged coastline, rocky structure, river mouths and nutrient-rich waters of the Golfo Dulce create a productive ecosystem with abundant bait and habitat that support this dynamic fishery year-round.

This summer, the roosters simply turned it up a notch.

Three months of incredible action, beautiful trophy fish, and every rooster released to fight another day. 🐊🇨🇷🎣

In 1998, forty-two acres just south of town were an old cow pasture—a true . Robin had a vision and four men swinging machetes through hip-high grass.

On June 1, 1999, four cement mixers and a crew of seventy, including Beau and Cory, broke ground. Todd waited for the boats to arrive while scouting out spots to take those first guests fishing.

On September 15, 1999, Crocodile Bay welcomed its first guests.

Twenty-seven years later, many of those same faces are still here, some of those boats are still fishing these waters, and guests who first came as strangers have become lifelong friends and part of the Crocodile Bay family.

It’s pretty incredible to look back at that old cow field and everything that grew from one vision.

Here’s to 27 years of memories, friendships and great fishing—and to the vision, legacy and future of Crocodile Bay. 🐊🇨🇷🐊

The Roosterfishing just keeps delivering. 🎣

Here we are at the end of August, and the Osa is still giving us some incredible trophy roosters.

These are the fish we never get tired of seeing — big, powerful, and one of the absolute stars of our inshore fishery.

The beaches of the Osa Peninsula are important nesting grounds for Olive Ridley, Green, Hawksbill and Leatherback sea turtles. But what happens between a female coming ashore to nest and those hatchlings reaching the ocean is where conservation has made an extraordinary difference. 🐢🇨🇷🐢

Over the years, efforts have shifted from combating poaching to actively protecting nests, monitoring populations, operating hatcheries and involving the local community in safeguarding the turtles that return to these shores.

Today, visitors can become part of that story.

Our early-morning turtle conservation tours are arranged right on property, giving guests an opportunity to experience this work firsthand—and a portion of every tour go directly toward helping continue it.

A pretty incredible way to start the day on the Osa. 🐢🌊

Mahi Monday ⚡️💚⚡️💚⚡️

Fast, aggressive and unmistakable when they light up beside the boat—Mahi (Dorado) are one of the great offshore catches of Southern Costa Rica.

While we encounter dorado throughout the year, the next few months bring our strongest seasonal run, as floating debris and current lines create prime feeding grounds offshore. September through early December can produce some incredible Mahi action, with everything from schools of smaller fish to those big, mature bulls that make you understand exactly why anglers love them.

And when a Mahi decides to eat? Hold on. Explosive strikes, blistering runs and spectacular aerial fights are all part of the show.

Mahi season is coming on strong in the Osa. 🎣🇨🇷

CUBERA. 💥

Few inshore fish are as coveted—or as unforgettable.

Big teeth. Brutal power. And a habit of heading straight for structure when hooked. The Cubera Snapper is one of the heavyweight prizes of Costa Rica’s Golfo Dulce.

They’re also built for the long game. Cubera can live for decades, with growth slowing as they mature—making the big fish in this fishery especially valuable.

Costa Rica does not require Cubera to be released.

At Crocodile Bay, we do. 100%.

Come for the fight. Get the photo. Send the Cubera back.

That’s how we fish the Golfo Dulce. 🇨🇷

We’re proud to see Diego Camacho, our Director of Fishing & Fleet, featured for his leadership and the work happening here at Crocodile Bay and in our home community of Puerto Jiménez.

For us, sport fishing is about more than time on the water. It’s about creating local opportunities, developing the next generation of captains and mates, and protecting the incredible fisheries that make Costa Rica’s South Pacific so special.

Through initiatives like the Crocodile Sport Fishing Academy, more than 100 people from our region have received training, helping build pathways into the sport fishing industry with a strong foundation in safety, conservation, responsible fish handling, and catch-and-release practices.

We’re proud of Diego, our team, and the community we call home.

Why we love the Osa during Costa Rica’s “winter.” 🌿🇨🇷

For us, it’s one of the best times of year for wildlife. The rains bring the rainforest to life—everything is lush, food is abundant, and the animals take full advantage.

Monkeys are on the move, toucans are feeding in the canopy, sloths are tucked into the fresh growth, and there always seems to be something wild around the next bend. 🐒🌱🦥

The greener the Osa gets, the more alive it feels. And that’s exactly why we love this time of year.
