500 new journeys to the sea.

In early August, 500 Olive Ridley turtle hatchlings made their way into the Pacific Ocean from Playa Pan Dulce, marking another extraordinary milestone in our ongoing conservation efforts.

These tiny turtles are part of the assisted incubation and release project led by Amazon Conservation Team (ACT), supported by Lapa Rios Lodge and Böëna Lodges.

Because of coastal erosion, rising tides, and increasingly intense storms, many nests along the Osa Peninsula are exposed to conditions where the eggs are unlikely to survive. Without this conservation intervention, almost none of these 500 hatchlings would have had the opportunity to reach the ocean.

Now, they begin their journey into the Pacific—and we are honored to help give them a better chance.

Every detail exceeded expectations—from the warm welcome drinks to the incredible staff who made us feel like family.
