Yesterday marked 15 years since Elias Mora first walked these trails as part of the Parador and Quepos Verde Aventura family: and the jungle has never been the same since.
As one of our most beloved naturalist guides, Elias has introduced thousands of guests to the wonders of Manuel Antonio. His name appears again and again in reviews from guests who came for the resort and left talking about the moment Elias pointed a sloth out of the canopy, or stopped the group silent for a bird call only he could place.
And what better day to celebrate him than World Animal Day, a reminder that the people who dedicate their lives to connecting others with nature are just as important as the wildlife itself.
Fifteen years of knowledge, patience and genuine love for this land. Thank you Elías!

Ayer se cumplieron 15 años desde que Elías Mora recorrió por primera vez estos senderos como parte de la familia Parador y Quepos Verde Aventura, y la selva no ha sido la misma desde entonces.
Como uno de nuestros guías naturalistas más queridos, Elías ha introducido a miles de huéspedes a las maravillas de Manuel Antonio. Su nombre aparece una y otra vez en reseñas de personas que vinieron por el resort y se fueron hablando del momento en que Elías señaló un perezoso entre los árboles, o detuvo al grupo en silencio ante un canto de ave que solo él supo reconocer.
¿Y qué mejor día para celebrarlo que el Día Mundial de los Animales? Un recordatorio de que las personas que dedican su vida a conectar a otros con la naturaleza son tan importantes como la fauna misma.
Quince años de conocimiento, paciencia y amor genuino por esta tierra. ¡Gracias Elías!

El 18 de septiembre, voluntarios de Parador se unieron al equipo del Centro Biológico de Hacienda Barú para un patrullaje nocturno en Playa Barú, parte del programa de monitoreo y conservación durante la temporada de desove de las tortugas marinas. Esta vez, las tortugas que desovaron fueron tortugas lora (Olive Ridley).
Juntos, midieron, marcaron y trasladaron de forma segura 199 huevos de dos nidadas hacia el vivero, dándole a la próxima generación de tortugas marinas una mejor oportunidad de llegar al mar. También se marcaron dos tortugas, para poder dar seguimiento a sus movimientos si regresan en futuras temporadas.
Nuestro compromiso no se quedó solo en el patrullaje. Durante el recorrido, nuestro equipo también recolectó residuos de la playa, porque proteger estos sitios de anidación significa cuidar toda la costa, no solo la arena donde están los nidos.
Gracias a nuestros voluntarios, y al Centro Biológico de Hacienda Barú por el trabajo que realizan cada temporada para proteger a las tortugas marinas de Costa Rica.

On September 18, Parador volunteers joined the team from Hacienda Barú's Centro Biológico for a night patrol along Playa Barú, part of the sea turtle nesting season monitoring and conservation program. This season's nesting turtles were Olive Ridleys.
Together, they measured, tagged, and safely relocated 199 eggs from two nests to the hatchery, giving the next generation of sea turtles a better chance at reaching the ocean. Two nesting turtles were also tagged, so their movements can be tracked if they return in future seasons.
Our commitment did not stop at the patrol. Along the way, our team also collected waste from the beach, because protecting these nesting grounds means caring for the whole coastline, not just the sand where the eggs are buried.
Thank you to our volunteers, and to Hacienda Barú's Centro Biológico for the work they do every season to protect Costa Rica's sea turtles.
