Swimming with turtles isn’t a thing here - yet. But we have a feeling it could catch on.
(Just kidding! We would never force a turtle to swim with us. This one, however, seemed suspiciously fond of the pool jet at Casa Heliconia.)

Nadar con tortugas todavía no es una experiencia oficial aquí… pero creemos que podría ponerse de moda.
(Es broma. Nunca obligaríamos a una tortuga a nadar con nosotros. Pero esta, la verdad, parecía bastante encantada con el chorro de agua de la piscina de Casa Heliconia.)

So… this was our weekend: a quiet beach, a hidden pool, and a sloth mum with her baby. The good news is that it could be yours too in the coming weeks.
It’s low season: fewer people, more jungle, and special rates.

Titus is not a big fan of the pool toys guests bring.
Especially when they start moving in the light breeze.
We're not saying he's scared.
He just doesn’t trust them. At all.

This is why getting up at 5am at a jungle lodge makes sense.
No alarm. No tour. No effort. Just an anteater casually passing by while the coffee is still a theory.

So… are there snakes at Geckoes Lodge?
Yes. And no, that’s not a problem.
Today, we met one of the most beautiful garden visitors so far: a bright yellow oropel. Shy, arboreal, and a very good sign that the jungle is doing what it’s supposed to do. We wrote a little blog about why snakes don’t worry us - and why they actually reassure us. (Link in comments, for the curious ones.)
