Welcome to Tranquila Farm in Costa Rica! 🌿🇨🇷

We welcome volunteers from around the world to work, learn about Costa Rica, experience rural life, and stay with us at Tranquila Farm. In a small country town called Bajo Caliente in Costa Rica, the Salas-Jiménez family started an ambitious project that works with nature and environmental issues. The project is "Tranquila Farm", where Felo & Rosa, the

owners, are leading this new stage in their lives, based on a vast experience in agriculture. In our place we had an underused property, watering system, knowledge in agriculture and great motivation to improve the way we work. We are dedicating an area of our land to work just organic; fruits and vegetables without pesticides, fertilizers, genetically modified organisms, antibiotics and growth hormones. If living in Costa Rica, having the opportunity to practice or learn Spanish with local people, trying different traditional dishes, breaking the daily routine, and being surrounded by a completely new context sound great for you!! ...then Tranquila Farm is your place to volunteer! More than simply helping out the Salas Jiménez family's Tranquilafarm.org project, while volunteering at Tranquila Farm you will be directly helping the population in Bajo Caliente by showing them that organic agriculture is possible. Tranquila Farm is going to be the first organic project in Bajo Caliente town and its surroundings. Moreover, an important percentage of the vegetables will be sold in the neighborhood, reducing prices and providing them with better quality products.

Our Story

We are a small farmstay and camp site in the little town of Bajo Caliente (Puntarenas Province). People here live tradittionally of cattle and agriculture allowing them to have a very authentic and peaceful live style. Nowadays locals still preserve many of the traditions. For example some families have cattle and produce their own dairy products like cheese and milk, some produce their own coffee, sugar cane, bananas, and many produce their own fruits and vegetables. Cows and horses get plenty of space to move around and they live happpy lifes. Most people have chickens and lovely pets. Anyways, we just want to say that is nice to live here! Take into consideration that Bajo Caliente is not a touristy place at all so is very slow and tranquil here, plus you will enjoy the great views to the Gulf of Nicoya, will breathe very clean air, and will experience lush nature. Not bad right! We are proud of everything we have, and we feel happy sharing our little peace of paradise. If you are ready to explore a simple but meaningful life style, please come and visit us!
