What makes us most proud is that we are all continuing to work toward the dream he built from the ground up through dedication, perseverance, and hard work. Today, that dream welcomes visitors from around the world, offering a meaningful connection with nature and inspiring a way of living that respects, protects, and learns from the natural world.

Although you are no longer physically with us, we find you everywhere: in the colors of your paintings, in the beauty of the mountains you loved, in the silence of nature, and in the memories that continue to fill our hearts.

Thank you for teaching us to see the world with wonder, to fall in love with nature, and to share kindness wherever we go. Your light, your joy, and your love continue to guide us every day.

We miss you deeply, but we also celebrate the incredible life you lived and the legacy you left behind. Every path we walk, every forest we protect, every guest we welcome, carries a little piece of your spirit.

A wild tapir visiting the garden right in front of one of our Beach Bungalows. Moments like this remind us how special this place truly is.

The Baird’s tapir, the largest land mammal in Central America, plays a vital role in rainforest regeneration by dispersing seeds throughout the forest. Seeing one in the wild is a privilege that few travelers experience.

Today on World Bee Day, we celebrate one of the smallest guardians of the rainforest: the Mariola Bee 🐝🌿

This tiny stingless bee plays a vital role in pollinating the tropical forests of Costa Rica and helping nature thrive. Despite its size, the Mariola Bee supports biodiversity, healthy ecosystems, and the beauty that surrounds us every day at Ocean Forest.

Known for producing the precious “little angel honey,” with its unique medicinal properties and delicate acidic flavor, these remarkable bees build recognizable wax entrances to protect their hives from predators. You may find them hidden in trees, old termite nests, or quietly living alongside us in nature.
