Congratulations to Intercultura Spanish School in Samara for being named one of the top Spanish schools in the world! We knew this place was incredibly special, and we’re so happy to see it being recognized for the incredible school that it is. Can’t wait to go back for more classes!

A singer and painter all in one? Meet our new friend, Madi! We were lucky enough to first see Madi singing at Las Olas, then even luckier when we found out she was also a very talented painter. Working with Madi to brighten up our rooms and bring the outdoors in was so much fun. She was such a pleasure to work with and everything just flowed. Thank you so much for helping to make our place even more special and for sharing your incredible talent with us!

Making special memories for our guests, friends and family was one of the main reasons we wanted to start a new adventure at the Good Life Lodge. Here are some highlights of one of our first group trips: The Moms and University Kids Lodge Takeover! ATVs, surfing, volleyball, horseback riding, music, massages, reiki, exploring and lots of laughs. We ran out of time to do all the things we wanted, so we’ll have to do it again.

We’re excited to build more trips for all different types of groups, so let us know if you’re planning a trip to Samara - we’d love to help!

There’s nothing better than a great sleep after a long day of sun and adventure, so one of our first orders of business was to put in brand new king beds. Thank you Luis for all your hard work and incredible craftsmanship in making these beds that are as comfortable as they are beautiful. We hope our guests love them as much as we do!

The Bodhi Tree in Nosara is one of those magical places where you leave feeling relaxed, happy and rejuvenated. That’s how we felt after a perfect gals day visiting the Bodhi for yoga, spa and lunch by the pool. We LOVE that it’s a quick 40 minute drive from The Good Life, so we can go for a little day trip whenever we feel the need for a getaway to this special oasis.

We are so happy to have hosted our first 'guys getaway' trip at the Good Life Lodge in Costa Rica. This fun team of Torontonians took over the Lodge and we organized a set of Samara adventure activities for them. Besides some stressed livers, everyone came home safe and sound!

The term ‘Blue Zone’ describes regions of the world where people live longer than average, maintain good health, and where there are particularly high numbers of centenarians. We love the fact that Samara is located in the Nicoya Peninsula, one of the world’s 5 Blue Zones, as there’s so much for us to learn from our local friends here.

Residents of Nicoya Peninsula live longer in large part due to the region’s calcium-rich water, healthy eating, family-based living, outdoor activity, and commitment to a pura vida lifestyle. The pura vida approach means slowing down, eliminating stress, and taking time to connect with nature, friends, and family.

We can’t be down in Samara all the time, but one of the things we want to start doing is eating a little bit more like our friends in Nicoya, with meals that are simple, hearty, and largely plant-based. Here’s a sneak peek at Mike’s homemade lunch for us. Delicious!

One of our biggest joys in life is traveling with our families and our friends that are like family.

Over the years we've learned what makes for a happier trip for all.. and you know what is high on the list? Our own space! That's one of the main things that drew us to the Good Life Lodge. We love the fact that we can have the main house as a big central space with a living room, kitchen, dining table and deck and then have people across multiple hotel rooms when they need to escape for some quiet time. There's also a shared outdoor kitchen/bar area and cool whirlpool bath space to gather as well.

Who doesn't like a fire show on the beach, right? Many nights at beach restaurants in Samara, a dinner or evening cocktail ends with a fire show. It's like fireworks for us, it doesn't matter how many times you see them, they are always enjoyable!
