Calva or fat snook season is coming up in late October through late January. Our regulars guests who live in Costa Rica often come down to fill there freezers with snook filets for the comming year.

The old road to Puerto Lindo which was a mud pig trail back in the day is getting new bridges, culverts and more black top paving. The road was closed for 4 days this past weeked for bridge work. I can not wait to see how it looks.. The drive time from San Jose has been reduced and will be less when the work is done. My record is three hours and 15 minutes from the Crowne Plaza hotel parking to the new coverd parking lot there at the Port. Wow hard to belive but true. I think it could be possible to have the drive time less than two hours when they get all of the highway to Limon finished.... Bring your boat and park you car at the port for $8 per day. Call for more options space will be limited.

Setember is here we arrived at the lodge for a 5 da fishing session... these normall or the first days of flat calm fall seas and and acres of tarpon feeding near the shore. All of our fishing friends to see this and read it. Todd Staley our former Manager at Rio Colorado Lodge and a long time Florida Resident is doing a great job trying to educate the people of Costa Rica of the value of Saving our fish for future generations. It is a never ending battle some times life and death fighting gill netters and illegal fishermen some of whom fish for a cover to Ffor Drug running. Catch and Release and publicity are slowly improving what was a great fishery that is always in danger of being destroyd by crooks and big commercial fishermen who would r**e the ocean of all fish for the money in one day if they could get away with it.

Today we had the sad news that Felix Castelion the brother of Caesar Catelion died at his home. Felix guided for us for many years and had many clients who enjoyed fishing with him. He was a very tall guy with an infectious smile. He came to Costa Rica many years ago as a refugee from the turmoil of the communist take over of his home country. His job there was sharpening knives and machetes and cutting sugar cane. He always said he loved his new work as a fishing guide at the lodge. His daughter was also a waitress for us for some time in her teenage years. We offor our deepest sympathy to the family of Felix.
