ARTIST RESIDENCY//
If you've noticed a spray paint smell at Somos, this is why.

BB is with us all month. He showed up with a backpack, a quiver of cans, and the biggest book of ideas we've ever seen. Within a day he knew everyone's name. Within two he became best friends with all of them.

His street art style looks chaotic, but it's far from it. In his words its, "controlled chaos. Subconscious ideas coming to reality."
His book holds the plans. Pages of references, sketches, inspiration, all there before he picks up a can.

Get on the Damn Boat was never really about the boat.

It was about saying yes to something that made very little sense on paper, and then realizing that was exactly why it worked.

GET ON THE DAMN BOAT // EPISODE 02

Saying you can shape four boards in three days, and actually shaping four boards in three days, are two different things.
locked himself in the bay. Shape all day, glass all night.
Sleep deprived and jet lagged, he pushed trough.
Josh said yes, and he actually did it.

4am, the crew rolled out. Twelve hours in the car, just enough time to catch up on sleep. When we arrived. was waiting on the dock.
Boards in hand. We got on the damn boat.

Now the adventure begins.

Sunsets here are a big deal.
The light goes pink, the wind drops, the whole town walks down to the sand. Somebody opens a beer. Some go for the last surf. Some just sit. Either way, it's the part of the day we don't skip.

GET ON THE DAMN BOAT // EPISODE 01

Say yes, plan later. That’s usually when the good stuff happens.

We heard was moving up the Costa Rican coast, so we asked if there was room for our crew.

No plan.
So we made one.

Assemble the crew.
Bring the boards.
Get on the damn boat.

Small issue: the boards didn’t exist yet.

But we didn't wait around for things to fall into place, and now we are making it happen.

KITCHEN TAKEOVER//
Chef Mole Serna flew in from Mexico this week to take over the Somos kitchen. Between fishing and enjoying the surf, he's been in the kitchen every day testing and dialing in the menu for the pop up. Tuesday is the night. Authentic Mexican flavors, plus a few things he's been working on all week.
