Today we celebrate National Parks Day, a day dedicated to recognizing the importance of protecting Costa Rica’s forests, wetlands, coastlines, and extraordinary wildlife.

At Tortuga Lodge, we’re especially proud to call Tortuguero National Park our neighbor. Here are three fascinating facts about this remarkable place:
1. A turtle sanctuary: Tortuguero is one of the most important nesting sites in the Caribbean for green sea turtles, which return to these shores year after year.
