Rios Lodge

Rios Lodge The Rios Lodge, nestled on the banks of the Pacuare River, is the perfect escape from your everyday modern routine.

Here you are surrounded by the beauty and splendor of Costa Rica’s tropical rainforest. RIOS LODGE - THE NEXT GENERATION
Rios Lodge is the official owner and new name of the former, award-winning Rios Tropicales Lodge. Rios Tropicales Lodge, Costa Rica’s original ecolodge on the pristine Pacuare River, was purchased by Rios Lodge LLC, in early 2022, along with over 270 acres of primary and seconda

ry rainforest and Pacuare River frontage. The adventure company Rios Tropicales, regrettably closed its doors in 2021, at the height of the global pandemic. The new owners and staff are a committed group of individuals from Costa Rica and the USA with a shared love of paddlesports, conservation, sustainability, and adventure tourism. Our goal is to make sure the former Rios Tropicales Lodge continues offering exceptional ecotourism vacations to diverse audiences and prioritizes conservation of the incredible Pacuare River and rainforest.

Excited to share photos from a finalized conservation project in collaboration with Rivers and Forests Alliance - RAFA and UNED and a new home for our froggy friends! 🌿🐸

New habitats have been completed to support the recovery of lemur leaf frog populations, and audio recorders have been installed to monitor activity. These will be checked every 1–3 months as researchers begin gathering data to track population improvements over time.

One monitoring station is located at the lodge, with five additional sites placed throughout the conservation properties above. A meaningful step forward for conservation and long-term biodiversity protection 💚

Different seasons bring out different sides of the Pacuare River 🌊💚

The Pacuare can get some big water during the green season (mid-May through December) but that action can be found in the dry season too!

Needless to say: we love sharing the beauty of the Pacuare River in all her forms!

We will always do what we can to protect our beautiful Pacuare River 💚

Earlier this year, we joined in on the growing community that gathered to support Bill No. 25.189, an initiative that seeks to protect one of Costa Rica's most emblematic rivers and a source of pride for Turrialba. The Environmental Safeguarding of the Pacuare River would ensure our beautiful river and the surrounding rainforest is protected for the future against hydroelectric dams.

From meeting with government officials to making sure our own business model has as small an environmental impact as possible, we strive to treat this river with the respect she deserves.
