Working hours: 09.00 – 19.00 (Open May 1. – November 1.)

The botanical garden of Belgrade – Jevremovac, is an urban oasis near the city center. It was founded in 1874 by decree of the Ministry of Education of the Kingdom of Serbia, at the suggestion of Mr. Josif Pančić, the most renowned Serbian botanist, who became it’s first manager.

In 1889, King Milan Obrenović donated the estate (inherited from his grandfather named Jevrem) to the Great School in Belgrade for the purpose of construction of the Botanical Garden, provided it is named “Jevremovac”.

It exists to this day at the same location and under the same name.

The Botanical garden covers an area of 5 hectares, housing over 250 species of local, European and exotic plants. Besides the open space, the arboretum covers the Green house and the Institute for Botanic premises. (administrative building, herbarium, library, lecture hall, laboratories).

The famous green house, built in 1892, covers the area of 500 m2. At the time of its construction it was one of the biggest and most beautiful green houses in this part of Europe. Numerous tropical and sub-tropical plants are being nursed, such as the Phoenix Canariensis, Chamaerops Humilis, and Cereus Peruvinianus among others.

The library of the Botanical Garden is one of the oldest and the most abundant one in this area. Apart from 200 scientific and professional magazines it also accommodates over 6,000 books.

“This place should be a hotel.

The bathroom is modern designed (I had a private room with a double bed) and the interior was very modern as well. The best part was the balcony where you could hang out and watch the busy streets of Belgrade.

It's located 250m from the big National Assembly hall, so you are in the center of Belgrade already. The staff is amazing, giving you the best and finest information and service about the city. They love what they do and that's why I think this was the best place I have ever stayed in.

You feel like they really want you to have an amazing stay. They even took there time to order me a taxi the day before my departure, and I needed my taxi to pick me up at 04:30 in the morning to take me to the airport. But that was not a problem.

This place is what I would call a hotel and not a hostel. This place is definitely where I will stay next time I'm in Belgrade."

Pobednik (Serbian Cyrillic: Победник, lit. 'The Victor') is a monument in the Upper Town of the Belgrade Fortress, built to commemorate Serbia's victory over the Ottoman and Austro-Hungarian empires during the Balkan Wars and the First World War.

Belgrade Fortress consists of the old citadel (Upper and Lower Town) and Kalemegdan Park (Large and Little Kalemegdan) on the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers, in an urban area of modern Belgrade, Serbia.

Located in Belgrade's municipality of Stari Grad, the fortress constitutes the specific historical core of the city. As one of the most important representatives of Belgrade's cultural heritage, it was originally protected right after World War II, among the first officially declared cultural monuments in Serbia.

The fortress was declared a Monument of Culture of Exceptional Importance in 1979. and is protected by the Republic of Serbia. It is the most visited tourist attraction in Belgrade, with Skadarlija being the second.

Since admission is free, it is estimated that the total number of visitors (foreign, domestic, citizens of Belgrade) is over 2 million yearly.
