Casa d' Avô Djô was born out of the desire of the owners to host guests at their own house and to make them feel at home.

Our last shipment will be leaving Portugal soon.🤩
Our stuff we shipped from Switzerland, plus everything we bought here in Portugal over the past month (fridge, wardrobe, tables and stools, kitchen appliances) have been packed for shipment this morning. Amazingly, everything fit into one van... and there was a lot of it.😅

Loading the container: day 3

Another full day of work and eventually we are packed. The container is as full as it can be. 😅
In the morning, we just need to pack a few small items and it will be ready to go. Unfortunately, we didn't manage to fit everything... we have to ship the rest of the stuff through Portugal. And tomorrow, we have to clean up and recycle the remaining items. And that will be the end of our Swiss story. And the new one will begin...🥹

We did two rounds with the track and the garage is empty now.🤩
We also packed all the boxes from the apartment and most of the furniture.
Just finished now... All day hard work...in crazy heat...exhausted but happy.😍

Loading the container: day 1

Today we started with the garage, which was packed to the ceiling. 😅
We've been renting the garage since 2017, so a lot of stuff has accumulated there. The container is a quarter full. To be continued tomorrow...

Last weekend, the thatched roof of the old house was replaced. First, Jaime removed the old straw and installed a waterproof membrane. Then, the new straw was delivered. We would like to thank Diva Gomes Rodrigues , Joana Veríssimo , Adelina Monteiro Da Cruz, Fatu Andrade , Noemia De Fatima Delgade, Denise Simone Rodrigues , Francisca Verissimo , Ana Maria Verissimo Rodrigues, and Manuel Rodrigues for "djunta mão".

Fontainhas is a fairytale village in the north of the island of Santo Antao. According to the National Geographic, it belongs to the villages in the world with the most beautiful view. The picturesque village consists of colored houses located on an edge of a deep cliff of hundreds of meters deep. Fontainhas is surrounded by green mountains and has a great sea view.

In April, we installed all our appliances: dishwasher, gas cooktop and oven, microwave, washing machine and dryer, and a mini water heater. Everything is working and ready to use.😁

We recently installed sun awnings on the top floor of , where our private rooms are. We like this "new look" of the building.😎☀️
