WHILE SOUTH AFRICANS ARE PREPARING TO MARCH AGAINST FOREIGNERS GOVERNMENT IS BUILDING A CAGE FOR THEM.
MARCH AND MARCH HAS NOTHING TO SAY ABOUT THE SYSTEM THAT IS COMING FOR EVERY SOUTH AFRICAN.
While South Africa was marching against foreigners — the government was building a cage.
Not for foreigners.
For everyone.
President Ramaphosa has announced that South Africa will launch a national Digital ID system in 2026.
Every South African citizen will be enrolled.
Your face.
Your fingerprints.
Your biometric data.
All sitting in a centralized government database — anchored inside the South African Revenue Service — that will control your access to government services, banking, healthcare, and education.
One digital credential.
One system.
One point of control.
And March and March — the movement brave enough to shut down hospitals, block schools, and threaten a national shutdown over foreign nationals — has not organized a single march against it.
Not one deadline.
Not one press conference.
Not one demand.
Think about what this system actually means.
The government's own annual performance plan — tabled in parliament, signed by the Home Affairs minister — admits that the cybersecurity maturity of this system "remains low."
It admits there is no fully implemented disaster recovery strategy.
It plans to use facial recognition as the primary method of verifying your identity.
Your face unlocks your life. Their database holds the key. When that system fails — when it is hacked, when it is manipulated, when a future administration decides to use it to target communities they do not like — what will you do?
You already gave up the physical document.
You gave up the paper trail. You gave up the fallback.
You put your entire identity in their hands.
Thomas Sankara said — he who feeds you controls you.
There is a newer truth for this digital age.
He who identifies you — controls you.
When your identity lives in their system — you are no longer a citizen.
You are a credential.
And credentials can be suspended.
Credentials can be revoked. Credentials can be used to track every movement, every transaction, every association you have ever made.
Ask the Uyghurs in China what a Digital ID in the wrong hands looks like.
Ask the millions in India who were excluded from government services because the biometric system could not read their fingerprints.
Ask the traditional leaders of South Africa — the ones closest to the ground — who are already calling for a national referendum before this system goes live.
They see it.
The people closest to the community always see it first.
But March and March is still checking if the man selling tomatoes has a permit.
Freeze line: They are chasing foreigners in the street while the government is building a cage for every South African citizen.
Nobody is asking who holds the key.
This is the conversation Africa needs to be having — not just about who belongs here, but about who controls us, how they control us, and what we are willing to do about it.
Everything connecting these dots — Digital ID, colonial control, African sovereignty — it's documented.
The real threat to Africa has never been the African next door.
It has always been the system designed to keep all of us controlled, divided, and too distracted to notice.
March and March found the courage to threaten a national shutdown over foreign nationals.
But when the South African government announced a biometric Digital ID system — built on infrastructure the government itself admits has low cybersecurity maturity — not one march was organized.
The foreigner in the spaza shop is visible.
The digital cage being built around every South African citizen is invisible.
That is exactly how control works.
It points your anger at the person next to you so you never look at the hand above you.
March and March will march for everything except the thing that will actually march over all of them.
A Digital ID that tracks your face, your money, and your movements — and they are worried about the man selling tomatoes. South Africa, with the greatest respect — you are looking in the wrong direction.
March and March gave the government a deadline for foreigners.
Who is giving the government a deadline on the Digital ID — the system that will control every South African citizen?
Please say NO to the Digital ID as it is part of the evil 'mark of the beast' system.
