the Island of Sal, which means “Salt Island”, takes its name from the salt deposits scattered throughout the territory, in the past widely exploited but now abandoned to give space to the development of tourism. Now the main source of income for the island.
The island of Sal becomes a perfect destination for lovers of white beaches and for who want to escape of the winter’s cold.
Interesting also for fishing lovers; in Sal are practiced all of kind odf fishing with the preference in Tuna’s fishing and Blue Marlin’s fishing.
Always attracted in marine flora and the picturesque seabed, many choose it for scuba diving. Even many marine biologists choose Sal for the study of the big and beautiful sea turtles.Sighted in large numbers in Sal and in all Cabo Verde, and symbol of the Cape Verdean state.
In addition, the island of Sal has been a wonderful discovery for those who practice sports such as surfing, windsurfing and kite surfing thanks to the tense and constant wind. The island, in fact, hosts many schools dedicated to these sports and every year people from different part of the world come to Sal to pratise them.
