💡 “If we can train and support employees coming from different countries, many of whom do not speak English when they arrive, why can’t we do the same for neurodivergent individuals?”
This was one of the reflections shared during our latest “Inclusive Hospitality” seminar, delivered at NissiBlu Beach Resort in Ayia Napa.
And perhaps it captures the essence of inclusion better than anything else.
Not having all the answers.
But being willing to learn, understand, and find solutions.
This time, the training brought together not only managers and department heads, but also employees from different hotel departments.
Many participants highlighted that hospitality, with its wide variety of roles and responsibilities, offers opportunities for people with different strengths, abilities, and ways of thinking.
At some point, the discussion stopped being about whether neurodivergent individuals can work in hospitality.
It became a discussion about how we can support them.
Following the lunch break, participants once again had the opportunity to connect with Mr George Christou, Job Coach at True Heart Cafe, Cyprus’ first social enterprise, as well as two young employees who shared their personal employment experiences.
We were also honoured to welcome a representative from Voice for Autism, who presented the important work being carried out through Cyprus’ first supported living residences for autistic adults in Nicosia.
These conversations remind us that inclusion is not only about employment.
It is about creating opportunities for people to participate, develop, and live with dignity within society.
📢 We are also delighted to announce the beginning of our collaboration with Mr George Christou.
Through specialised funded training programmes, we will support organisations that wish to move from awareness to action by creating workplaces that are prepared to welcome and support neurodivergent employees.
At the same time, our collaboration with Smile Project Αμμοχώστου continues to grow, strengthening efforts towards meaningful employment opportunities for autistic individuals.
More information will be shared soon.
🙏 Our sincere thanks to the management team and employees of NissiBlu Beach Resort for their openness, engagement, and genuine willingness to learn.
Because inclusion starts with people.
And this time, the willingness to understand, support, and take action was visible throughout the room.
