The recent fires in Limassol and Paphos areas are still ongoing, and affect lots of villages and forests. Our thoughts are naturally with those affected and the firefighters doing their best to put out the infernos. Please remember, this is not a spectator sport. Stay away from affected areas and let the rescue teams get on with their difficult jobs.

Also remember that the whole of Cyprus is tinder-dry at the moment, so don't leave any rubbish around and dispose of ci******es in a sensible fashion. Don't throw them out of your car window. Don't even think about setting off any fireworks.

If you see a fire you can report it by calling the following:

112 for police / fire / ambulance.
1407 for forest fires.
