Calm, clear water, a proper sweep of beach, and tavernas right on the sand. The village up top and the beach community below were once linked by a fishing jetty — these days it's a short drive or a good walk.

One of the loveliest bays on the south coast, and never heaving.

The sea is at its warmest after a whole summer of sun, the villages have quietened down again, and the light turns golden by late afternoon.

This time next year it could be you on the patio watching it happen. The Retreat is open the 1st to the 24th of September 2027 — three bedrooms, sleeps six, an 8 by 4 metre private pool.

Cow bells drifting down through the pine forest as the herd comes back from the farm. That's the soundtrack at Pine Bay — that, and birdsong, and not a great deal else.

Pissouri has kept its traditional character — a pedestrianised square, tavernas that locals actually eat in, and no high-rise anything. It sits near the mythological birthplace of Aphrodite, which the guidebooks enjoy rather more than the residents do.

The Retreat is at the top of the village, on the edge of the pine forest.

It's the third week of September. Picture the same week in 2027 — except the pool is yours, the sun is still hot, and the biggest decision of the day is which taverna.
